The government has processed and delivered more than half of the economic impact payments (stimulus checks). If you did not have your personal bank account information on your tax return, the government will issue you a paper check. You may be able to enter your bank account information through the IRS website, if they have not yet processed your economic impact payment.
To check the status of your economic impact payment, follow these steps:
- Go to the IRS.Gov website (a secure government website)
- Under the economic impact payments click on check your payment status
- From there you will see two columns. On the left, click on get my payment, and you will be prompted for the following information of the primary filer: social security number, date of birth, street address and zip code
- It will then tell you if your economic impact payment was processed. If it was processed, it will give you the date of which it was processed. If it was not processed, it may even allow you to enter your personal bank account information. Have your tax return on hand, because you will need your adjusted gross income and the amount of your refund or balance due when entering bank information.
